Firewall protection
I purchased a mesh system nighthawk MR60 with two additional satellites. They worked greet up until we lost power a cpl wks ago. I called support today and the man i spoke with said our firewall protection was expired. And that in order for me to get the support i needed that i had to purchase a 3 year contract for firewall protection @$199. I am just wondering if that is actually necessary for me to have to have the firewall protection or if it was just BS. He said that it is a "new policy" and no matter where or what mesh system i purchase it will always be this way. Is this correct info? Or do i need to file a complain with PayPal to get my money back? He sent me an invoice and i paid it. But the invoice does not really look "professional". Please help!

The onboard firewall is what he was referring to because when i logged into the Armour it just said "expired". He also stated that i HAD to have said "firewall" in order for anything to work. And that the "policies have recently changed". Their IT dept was of absolutely no help and I'm pretty sure they wiped my entire system and now have told me i will need to purchase a new system because this one was "no longer useable". I've requested a refund.

Ya, seems like there only tring to get you to buy something.
Onboard Firewall doesn't need any subscription and ALL routers work with it already. NG products would not be great if they didn't work with out the Firewall.
I'd factory set up the MR and MS using a wired PC and web browser this time. Follow this:
Orbi Systems Manual Factory Reset Process | NETGEAR Communities
For Orbi however same process for MK mesh systesms.
When usng the Nighthawk app, just avoid any subscriptions there.
Yes I have this same system, bought it used off of Amazon. Works fine with out Armor.

That may have been Armor. NG products come with a trial period for Armor security which is an extra layer and subscription base.
All NG routers have a separate onboard Firewall running that isn't subscription and runs all the time.
Armor subscription for additional security and features if users wish to subscribe is all.
