Getting sky to work with XR500

Hi

I am UK based using Sky Broadband - using Q - Fibre Max - and have a Netgear XR500  Nighthawk router and a DM200.

I have tried unsuccesfully to migrate the new XR500 into my network

My steps so far have been to :

- Connect my telephone line cable the DM200.

- Connected to DM200 and set this to modem mode, and selected Sky as my ISP  (no other configuration changed, left everything as default).

- Connected LAN port on DM200 to Internet port on the XR500

- Connected to XR500 and uploaded Beta firmware to get option 61

- Set option 61 as : install@o2broadband.co.uk|password

I also tried various other strings I found online

- Set MAC address of the Netgear XR500 to match that of the existing Sky Q Router.

DM200 says internet is "good" but on the XR500 I get 0.0.0.0 on the WAN .

I am a network engineer so I'm happy to do whatever CLI / logging / tracing is required.

I understand that I may need to wireshark my personal sky username/password however I was under the impression this was not needed since 2017.

Please help! as I'd like to use the XR500 :)

After connecting the XR to the DM, did you power OFF both XR and DM for 1 minute, then power on the modem and let it sync, then power on the XR router?

It should be a reasonably straightforward setup, so I would recommend doing this:

      1. Be 100% certain the Sky router has Internet if you connect to it
      2. Factory reset the XR500 and go through the initial setup again

I suspect that in trying to configure all these different settings you may have misconfigured the XR500. Factory reset should give it a clean start.

I would suggest getting the correct username/password from WireShark and inputting that into option 61 and see if that works. From what I can find online, this seems to be what is needed in order to correctly configure option 61.
