internet seems to drop out constantly and causes high latency while gaming

So I've been told by spectrum a few times that the problem is within my modem and router. I bought a new modem and router and I still seem to be having the same issues. It seems the internet connection will drop every so often and my latency will sky rocket in games. I went a bit overboard with the XR500 router and the CM1000. Speed test shows speed drops every so often but I'm not sure where to turn now. What do you guys need from me to help diagnose this issue?

  • Drop as in speed drops or that the internet disconnects completely? So you had this issue prior to the XR500 and CM1000 yet you still experience it?

Both. When I'm watching videos sometimes my videos will begin buffering and then I'll run a speed test and the connection is non exsistent. Do I need to screenshot anything so you can see if you can diagnose it?

If this issue was present before you upgraded the router and modem and it is still present now then its certainly not the equipment that has an issue. Does it appear to happen at random times or in peak times mainly?

You can try disabling QoS in Anti-Bufferbloats options to see if that helps. Would suggest replacing all the ethernet cables connected to modem/router as well to ensure its not those either.

It has been happening for the past few months. Spectrum keeps blaming it on my modem so I bought a new one and the issue is still present.
