XR1000 Upload
Hello
I'm hoping someone can help/point me in the right direction. For about a month now, I've been receiving high upload ping, whilst underload. My hit registration in-game has been really poor in this time - this is what prompted me to undertake the tests in the first place. Prior to this my upload ping was around 3ms. Initially I thought the issue lay with my ISP but after undertaking a few tests I'm not so sure.
The test result attached (waveform.png) is pretty much identical results to what I have been receiving over the last month. In the last month I changed ISPs and admittedly my overall in-game has dropped from 20ms to 14-15ms. But my upload ping has not changed. I appreciate the issue could lay with Open Reach but trying to diagnose as much I can my end before escalating.
The reason I am now suspecting the issue may be with the router, is two-fold.
Firstly, when I undertake a Connection Benchmark within DumaOS, the Ping Test - Underload actually shows the issue being with my Download and not my Upload - which I thought was strange (DumaOS.png). Why was Waveform showing the issue with Upload and DumaOS showing the issue with Download.
I've been applying around with having the QOS disabled - no change to the upload ping and then applying the QOS. I have applied the QOS to my Download Only and the speed is reflective in the QOS applied i.e. 50% delivering a speed of approx 20MBPS. But when I apply to the Upload Only the speed is no different. To confirm, my QOS is set at 47% of my Upload and should show a speed of approx 3.8MBPS but as you can see from the waveform.png image, it isn't applying the QOS. This suggests to me, that the router is causing an issue with my Upload, as for some reason, it is having determining/separating it.
I have carried these tests out on firmware 1.0.0.68 and the latest firmware 1.0.0.74. To confirm, my connection is by ethernet.
I have tried testing the connection with the ISP supplied router and was still getting the same results. But in hindsight, I still had the XR1000 connected. I just plugged the ethernet from my PC direct to the ISP router with the XR1000 connected to the ISP router. I didn't test without completely disconnecting my XR1000. I have since moved the ISP supplied router into Bridge Mode.
I guess my question is, without me having to take the ISP supplied router out of bridge mode to test, does anyone know what the issue might be? Is it likely due to the XR1000? Any suggestions/comments will be gratefully received.
- In most cases like yours it'll be due to PPPoE, disable bridge mode on your ISP router, have it handle PPPoE instead, put the XR WAN IP in its DMZ instead then see if it works as expected

If your seeing same issues with ISP modem, then you'll need to make contact with the ISP and them them check everything up to there modem.
I'd use pingplotter.com app with your wired PC connected to there modem router and run some tests and show them any results along with what you collected already.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.

This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Try option #2 first...Get the signal up to the modem in good condition, then connect up the XR router.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I have replaced all cables and even got a new ISP router supplied.
I have the ISP supplied router in Bridge Mode to avoid double NAT.
Unless anyone else has any suggestions, going to the ISP to run tests is the way forward. Just didn't know if it was a known issue due to weird upload/download test results I showed.

Show them the results since it's happening with there stuff. Once it's resolved there, then you should be good to go with the XR. Any router connected to a ISP modem depends on good signal at the modem.
