cannot connect to my RBR750

I have an Orbi rbr750 router, but cannot connect to it from my Orbi app or directly from the web browser. The ip address is 192.168.1.251.

using the Orbi app, then when I connect with Anywhere Access then I see the routher with GREEN dot, but also get an error message saying "Device is offline"

I do have internet connection that seems to work well.

What to do?

Peter

Default IP address for NG routers is 192.168.1.1. Can you connect to this IP addres on a web browser?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What mobile platform are you using with Orbi app?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

WiFi routers have two IP addresses:

    1. The Internet (WAN) port is typically assigned an IP address by the network the router is using.
    2. When operating in 'router mode', the RBR750 will create a local network (LAN) and will assign one of the IP addresses on this LAN to itself.
This is the IP address to use when using a web browser to access the web management features of the RBR750, and can be accessed only when the device is connected to the LAN.

The Anywhere Access feature of the Orbi app does not require the smartphone to be connected to the LAN (i.e. it can be "anywhere")

192.168.1.251 is an unusual IP address for an Orbi router to assign to itself.

  • I gave up and just did a hard reset. I had to rebuild what i had set up (restore from previous back up didn't work). I wonder if has something to do with the latest firmware (I had it set to auto-update) - 7.2.7.15. I noted that the release notes state:

    New Features:

    • Added Router Protection support.

Maybe that auto update hosed up the web/app access. But that is just a guess.
