Firmware update issues with RBR/RBS750

Hi, am posting here and hoping for a solution for the issue encountered.

Have gotten RBK752 from a friend of mine and both RBR & RBS 750 were installed with V4.6.8.91 firmware.

I reset both router and satellite, and during the installation process, the Orbi app updated the router to V4.6.14.93.

I have managed to get the router and satellite working but could not update the firmware, either via auto or manually. Both RBR and RBS are working. The LED in front of both RBR and RBS are working (does change color according to the states it is in). I have done reset again and the outcome is still the same. Result is shown below:

I have tried the following firmware with same results: v4.6.9.11.1, v4.6.14.3, v7.2.6.21 & v7.2.6.31; I uploaded the *.chk file after unzipping the downloaded file.  I have tried using Chrome, Firefox and MS Edge on Win10 PC, as well as Safari on MacOS and iOS (iPad), and also Chrome on Android. All have the same results of no success with either auto or manual updates. I have even tried earlier version of the firmware, i.e. V4.6.3.7, and the results are the same: "Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file."

Appreciate any suggestions for possible solution to this issue.

I tried to update the RBS first but with no success.

I have always used a wired PC (to RBR) for the tasks but still have no success; and using mainly MS Edge only.

I have even borrowed a RBR850 (firmware V7.2.6.31) and in the auto update, it detects new firmware V4.6.9.11 for the RBS750 but also experienced same error message for both auto and manual update.

Have you tried to manually apply the v4.6.9.11 RBS firmware first, then see if v7 FW will take?

I presume you are unpacking the .zip file to reveal the actual .chk FW file that needs to be loaded thru the RBS web page right?

  • Hi. Did you ever get anywhere with this issue? I have done all the same steps as you and no luck - same error message.
