Orbi Netgear App drops Satellite devices from display

I have the router in the basement, and satellites on the first and second floor. Firmware version for the app is V3.2.16.6_1.4.4. I have 28 devices connected and distributed between the 3 points. Backhaul is "Good".  Internet connection on all devices is terrific. The problem:

Every few days, the app only shows devices connected to the router. None of the devices connected to the Satellites are displayed - even though they are connected to the internet. For example, my desktop PC is wired to the 2nd Floor Satellite and has blazing speed. (And, it has not reconnnected wirelessly to the router.) Not displayed as an Attached Device.

"Refresh" does not correct the problem. If I reboot the router, only then do all Router and Satellite devices appear in the "Attached Devices." After a day or two, they are no longer displayed.

Any thoughts or possible solutions are appreciated.

  • I haven't seen this with mine. I see Orbi app has been updated as well in the past few days for Apple and Yesterday for Google. You might remove the app and re-install then walk thru a new setup proceedure in the app.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Has a factory reset been performed on the orbi ax system since last FW update?

Something to post about over in the Orbi app forum as well:

Thanks for the reply.  My 2nd floor sattelite went offline again this morning and reminded me to check my post.

The house is only 2,100 Sq Ft and built 20 years ago. No special construction. Just normal wood frame and sheetrock. Distance between Router and the 2 sattelites is well within 30 feet.

The funny thing is, my desktop was still on the internet even though the app did not show the the desktop being connected. As soon as I unplugged the sattelite, the internet was lost. I plugged it back in and hit the sync button. I got the internet back on my desktop but still not seeing the 2nd floor sattelite or my desktop in the app. I rebooted the router (from the app) and all 30 devices then appeared along with the 2nd floor sattelite.

I'm a little hesitant to do a factory reset (although I did create a backup). I'm okay with uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I'll give that a shot this week.

      Thank you!

  • Same issue here - Router plus 2 Sat's - network is fine - devices can connect etc.  iPhone app doesn't show all connected devices although they are obviously connected.  Doesn't look like an app problem though, because directly connecting to the router shows the same devices.  Netgear - you obviously know about this problem - it's not ok to just let it continue.  Being able to see what is on the network is fundamental - If this was a $59 router I may be more understanding, but a $599 system - not ok.

    RBR750 with V3.2.16.6_1.4.4 firmware.

    • Please post about this in the Orbi app forum:

      Good Luck.
