RBR750 repeatedly losing wifi connection

This looks like a common problem, not happy given how much i've paid... trying to decide whether to return as faulty.

Firmware: v4.6.14.3

SSID: unique name.  Same name across all bands.

Locations: three routers connected by Cat6 ethernet, separated by 25m.

Modem: standard UK Virgin hub in modem mode.

Restarted: followed proper switch-off and cycling in correct order... and since firmware updated.

Devices tried: iPhone12, iPhone13, Android S20.  Sames issue across all three phones.

Problem: wifi connection drops, and will not re-connect. Appears to occur when moving around - i.e. a mesh issue? Have to switch off wifi and wait, then switch back on - that usually fixes, but it can take a few goes.

Ethernet: appears to work fine.

Virgin media internet connectivity tracker: using a tracker website shows no drop-outs to the modem.

Have not tried a full factory reset - the router is new and don't expect to have this level of manual intervention.  I've switched from a dd-wrt router set-up simply because i don't have time to tinker these days.

  • Are the RBS ethernet connect to the back of the RBR or is there a LAN switch in between? If so, brand and model please.

Be sure to disable any WiFi Private IP Address features on the Apple devices while at home:

    Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

Try setting 40Mhz only on the RBR.

Try changing CTS to 500 and see.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

      Hi thanks for replying 🙂

I did have a TP link 5 port gigabit unmanaged switch (TL-SG105S) in between one of the satellites... so i've removed this now.  So both satellites are directly connected via Cat6.

Yes wifi private IP/mac is disabled on the iPhones...

Have made those changes you suggested... will let you know if it makes a difference.
