RBR750 with 2 RBS750 ethernet backhaul not working

Gateway-> RBR750> 2 RBs750's> switches>other random devices.

I have had this system working for 2 years without an issue.  The RBR750 is connected directly to the two satellites by ethernet.  After the satellites, I have switches which allowed me to hardwire to other devices.  I remember it being a wired backhaul but  think I had it in 'Router' mode (not AP).  The RBR is in the center of the house and the 2 RBS' are at each side of the house (again, directly wired by ethernet- no switches in between).  The system worked very well for 2 years.    I then upgraded the firmware to V7.2.6.31.   Now the RBR works but 'wired satellites' show the backhaul status is 'Disconnected'.

When I look at attached Devices, the RBR is the only device that shows 'attached' devices. So it appears my 2 RBS are paperweights.

I've tried rebooting all devices.    Then unplugged ethernet cables, rebooted all, let the RBR come online then plug in ethernet cords on RBS.   Also tried sync buttons.   No luck on anything.

I imagine there is something in the RBR that is not recognizing the wired satellites or vice versa?   I'm hoping for a simple fix.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When the firmware was updated, were the two satellites updated first, and then the router (last)?

There have been (to many to count) reports on the forum about problems when the router and satellites are not on the same firmware version.

If they are not, the (ugly) solution is to

    • Manually reload the previous firmware on the router.
    • Update each satellite.
    • Update the router.

Users have seen issue with v.31 FW.

I presume you updated the RBS first then RBR lastly? If so and if you did a factory reset and or a power cycle of the system and there not working, I would recommend reverting the RBS back to v.21 first, then the RBR lastly.

Factory reset and setup from scratch. You'll need to do this with the RBR disconnected from the ISP modem or ONT so it doesn't re-auto update back to v.31. Once you have the system setup, disable the Auto Update Check on the RBR under Advanced tab/Admin/Router update. Then connect the RBR back to the ISP modem/ONT.

Thanks for the replies.   I did not update the RBS first (rookie mistake).  I did the auto update and it did the RBR only.  I then manually updated the RBS units.  I subsequently re-checked the firmware and all were showing v .31.    I then tried re-booting a bunch of different ways with no luck.  I didnt back anything up (again rookie mistake).

      So will this work?

Detach RBR from internet and factory reset (also disable auto update)

Do I also Factory reset the 2 RBS?

If I do factory reset the 2 RBS.    Do I update those first, then bring RBR up to date?

If I don't factory reset the 2 RBS,  do I just update the RBR?  Should I unplug the 2 RBS while I'm updating RBR?

You could connect to the satellites when Attached Devices said they were 'Disconnected'?

Might try temporarily bringing them to the same room as the router and see if they will connect over WiFi.
