RBR850 not getting 2.5gbps
I upgraded to 2.5gbps and am maxing out at gigabit, tested on rbr850 through orbi app, wired directly to modem. all cabling is cat6. can confirm modem is getting 2.5gbps or thereabouts.
any ideas?
fixed! bell technician had ethernet plugged into LAN port in back of modem - there's a 10gpbs port. tried that and orbi is up to 2.5.
thanks for trying to help!!!

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?- bingbongbelloAspirant
FW: 4.6.3.16_2.0.51
Connected to a Home Hub 4000 aka Sagemcom 5689.
What's the connection rate show on the Connection Status for the WAN port on the RBRs web page under Advanced Tab?
Question:
For the RBR850 to achieve more than 1Gbps (2.5Gbps), doesn't the RBR850 require 2 ethernet ports (Internet and Lan#1) to be used?
I'm using an ATT Fiber BGW320 which has a single 5Gbps Internet/WAN port. I'm trying to figure out the layer1 connections
Also, can I use Cat5E for the 2.5Gbps? I realize it's NOT recommended but it CAN work?

However this is hampered by the LAN ports being only 1Gb on the LAN side. So The LAN side wire can't go past 1Gb. Now if you have wireless AC or AX supporting devices with 80 or 160Mhz channel width support, you can see over 1Gb WAN to wireless as the connection rates on wireless and channel width support can show this. Just depends on the client device connected to the wireless. The 9 series is first Orbi system to offer multi gig WAN and LAN ports now.

So for BEST operation from the ISP modems WAN port to the RBRs WAN port CAT6A STP would be recommended. Something I learned a few months ago. Even CAT6 UTP is Ok but CAT6A STP proved to solve a couple of issues I found with my CAX80 and both 8 and 9 series Orbis and working with Multi-gig ports.
Thank you for the response!
After logging into RBR850 I noticed the WAN port is 2.5Gbps so that was my bad.
I then connected the WAN port to my BGW320-505 5Gb Port (my Cat5e because I don't have time to re-run cable into attic now)
I upgraded my AT&T 1000 to 2000. Using AT&T app I confirmed I'm getting "2499 Mbps" both up and down.
Confirmed Orbi is working at 2500 Mbps.
I assume I can't LAG (2) 1gb lan ports on RBR850 together?
I have a single Ethernet 2.5Gb LAN on my gaming PC - basically I was trying to think how to connect to my RBR850 but will just stick with my 1GB port
- 99.9% sure cat 5e can easily handle 2.5G especially with cable length less than 50 feet.
Maybe and that's your choice of course. However for best operation and stability, CAT6A STP would be recommended. There is a difference. I would not leave anything to a lesser cable.
