Satellite lost synch and cannot regain

I've have my Orbi 960 and two satellites up and running for almost a year with no issues. This morning, I noticed poor connectivity in the kitchen and after some troubleshooting on the routers home page and the Orbi app, discovered that one satellite dropped off line.  I cannot get it to reconnect.  Nothing has changed on my system recently and I have been using an ethernet backhaul to the satellite.

I have rebooted everything several times.  I have reset the satellite and tried again.  I have tried to synch via wifi and use a tested Cat6  backhaul connection.  Nothing has helped.

If I simply power up my satellite, the white LED light flashed white for several minutes indicating it is looking for a connection.  Eventually, it goes out, never cycling to blue, amber or purple.

I am out of ideas.

Thank you to you and the others who replied.  After trying the many solutions provided here, I finally decided to one more time factory reset the errant satellite late last night.  For reasons unknown to me, even though I did nothing new, the satellite booted up, found the router, and turned blue.  That had happened several times before, but this time, it finally displayed in the web browser and the Orbi app as a working satellite.

All seems well.  I really appreciate the time you and others spent with me.

  • Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

I've done those steps but will try again.

My firmware shows current as V6.3.7.5 on the router and the one satellite that still works.  Can't see the other one obviously.

I have a 3100 sf home with an unfinished basement where the router is connected to the modem.  I am Cat 6 hardwired for the backhaul, so the distance should not really matter (and hasn't for the past year), but it's probably 40-50' straight line through a floor.

      • Wondering if the one RBS didn't update properly?

Are both RBS connected wired to the RBR?

  • Since satellites are portable, what happens if the satellite is temporarily moved to the same location as the router and powered on there?
