Should I be getting more speed on Satellites - New RBRE9606(AXE)

Hi,

New to the RBRE9606E (AXE). Set-up was easy and haven’t really had any issues except the below. (just had them a week)

Firmware V6.0.3.85_3.1.15

about 2,000 ft home

Connection on both satellites is 5Ghz in web admin and Backhaul status showing as “Poor”. This seems to vary for some reason, is is supposed to? Seems to change if I restart, but speed to Satellites still low. Not as fast as initial set-up.

I’m getting 710-540Mbps at my router (Mid level of house)

At my 2nd floor Satellite I’m getting @ 140-170 Mbps (about 40ft from Router). I have a 2nd Satellite in basement level with similar speed of 2nd Floor satellite.

I would sort of be ok with this but when I first set-up the orbing system (everything in the same locations) the speed up at the 2nd floor was in the 600Mbps. How do I get back to this, what can I trouble shoot, or was that a fluke. Is what I am seeing typical speed decreases or should this be performing better?

**I have a radiant floor system with so the floors have a thin skin of aluminum sheet throughout…

Thanks,

  • "Poor" means (literally) "not acceptable".  Radiant heating systems are tough for WiFi signals to penetrate.  I have no explanation for how the backhaul could change from Good to Poor when the units remain in exactly the same location and orientation.

My guess is that this flooring will affect every brand of WiFi system, so it might be time to look into using Ethernet cable to connect satellites to the router.

      Something else going on.

For example I just unplugged the Orbing Sat in front of me (on 2nd Floor) and replugged it in.

Now the web admin fro the 2nd floor Satellite reads:

Connection type: 5Ghz (same as before)

      Backhaul Status: Good.

Ookla speed test 190Mbps (slight increase).....

      Edit:

And 30 min later, indicates back on Poor...

about 2,000 ft home< for this size of home, the RBR would be only needed. Maybe 1 RBS. I recommend you turn OFF 1 RBS.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Is the separate 6Ghz SSID broadcast enabled?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

This could cause some wifi signal degradation as well.

Be sure that when your wirelessly testing that you disable the wifi radio on your wireless device, then go near to the RBS, then re-enable the wifi radio on the wireless device to ensure it connects to the RBS vs the RBR.
