Upgrade from old Orbi to RBR850 error

My old Orbi mesh system stopped working and I got a new one and during the setup process, I’m getting an error message “Orbi Not Found
It looks like you might be connected to your old Wi-Fi gateway. In order to find and connect to your router you must first turn off or rename the Wi-Fi on your old gateway.”. I reset my old Orbi, tried again, and still get the same error message I read one post stating to delete the app and try setup again, still didn’t work. Any suggestions?

  • This description appears to be inconsistent.

    • If the old Orbi stopped working, how was it possible to reset it?
(That would seem to imply that the old Orbi was "working".)
    • When a user sets up a new Orbi system using the Orbi 'app', the first step is to connect the smart phone to the new system WiFi before opening the 'app'.  Is this what was done?

To be honest, I much prefer configuring a new WiFi system using a computer connected to one of the Ethernet ports rather than the Orbi 'app'.  Is there a desktop or laptop computer that can be connected to the new system?

  • In the app, there's an option for setting up a new system in the hamburger menu on the leeft. Did you hit that.

Yup, set it up on the app multiple times and got an error during the setup flow (see image). Given what it stated, I reset my old router by the reset button and tried it again and it still didn't work. I've since set it up with the "default" wifi name and was able to get online, but I'd like to get it to work on my old wifi name so that I can have all my devices working again
