Firmware update sequence - should I be worried?

hello. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my notes and help me I really appreciate it.

I purchased the Orbi 770 series mesh system, 3-pack.

I hooked up the router, following the instructions in the app, and then connected and powered on the satellites when prompted to do so. Both satellites are hard wired.

The app showed both satellites being found and “optimizing.”  Shortly after, they reported as online.

I believe the router and satellite firmware versions were at 10.5.10.10, but I could be wrong.

An “Update” button in red appeared in the app. I went ahead and performed the update through the app. It seemingly disconnected me from the WiFi and then reconnected me and I received a message in the app indicating:  Update Successful - Your Orbi’s firmware was successfully updated.

I saw the red “Update” button appear again which I thought was odd. I checked the firmware levels and noticed the 2 satellites were updated to 10.5.19.5, but the router was still on 10.5.10.10 (or a number similar).

So, I went ahead and performed the update again, through the app. Same sequence of events and the same message in my app: Update Successful - Your Orbi’s firmware was successfully updated.

I checked the firmware levels again - satellites the same as last time at 10.5.19.5, but the router was still on 10.5.10.10 (or a number similar).

The red update button appeared again…so, I went ahead and did it AGAIN, and received the message: Update Successful - Your Orbi’s firmware was successfully updated.

All firmware versions now report at 10.5.19.5 including the router. No additional updates are found when checking.

My question: is this normal behavior? Should I be worried that the firmware did not install correctly? Should I be worried that there are issues with the firmware in how it was installed? Is there any way to ensure that everything went okay, perhaps via logs?

Thank you in advance.

The concern is understandable.  No.  This is NOT what is supposed to happen.

However...... the end result appears to be that the router and satellites are all at the same release (this is good)

But....  (sorry)  Netgear released new firmware for the 770 system on Sept 18, 2025:

    It is your choice:

As an observation.... there is often a lag between the time that Netgear releases firmware update and when routers detect and install them.  Perhaps this is a deliberate decision to let "early adopters" discover the new firmware, install it, and discover any "issues" that the quality assurance process failed to detect.  Or, perhaps the people who release firmware and the people who set systems to detect it do not coordinate very well.  (nobody knows)

If you elect to manually update to the latest firmware and it proves disappointing, you can always manually reload any version you want to.

(sorry. appears I have not been very helpful)
