HP Printer Won't Connect to Router

Good evening.

I just upgraded from 850 to 970.  All looks good, except my HP Printer won't connect.

I have tried using the printer's menu and the HP Smart app.   The printer detects the router and lets me enter the password.  But it will not connect.

Has anyone encountered this issue and won?

Thanks in advance.

  • Good afternoon.

Thanks for the reply.  After looking at several entries in the community; the IoT option kept grabbing my attention.  It did show up in the router listing, but I ignored it.  So, i tried connecting to my IoT network and I got connected immediately.

    Thanks for all the responses.

Does it connect to the separate IoT network on the 970 series?

What model printer do you have?

Be sure to contact HP support for help and information regarding there product as well.

Your response to check the IoT network got me moving in the right direction.  I guess the 970 is way smarter than I am.

      Thank you.

Glad your going in right direction. Ya, having WPA3 in the mix causes some older non WPA3 devices to not work right or connect. Even though they don't support WPA3, seems there is a odd mis-handling of the connection handsake if WPA3 is on the signal and these devices don't know what to do. The separate IoT network you can select WPA2 only and should resolve this.

What security is set on the new system?  Sometimes older devices cannot connect to WPA3 security.

I have select wpa2 and wpa3 option for my net system.

Guess that was another problem I wasn't aware of.  Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
