Orbi 872, IPv6 & Gigaclear
Is there anyone on a Gigaclear service using IPv6 on this model Orbi and can help with the settings needed?
I've a case open with Gigaclear at the moment. I have a fixed IPv4 address.
Using a Linksys Velop router the IPv6 assignment was picked up quite happily (I think this was set to Auto or DHCP or similar but I don't have the router now as it had to be replaced and the Orbi took over, so can't check exactly) and the line based all the tests at
and
The Orbi however doesn't even see the IPv6 coming down the wire towards the WAN interface although Gigaclear confirm it's live on my line and the WAN interface stays resolutely blank (see the screen shot below)
I've tried all the various sensible settings under the IPv6 tab on the Orbi web interface but nothing works (ONT and router rebooted on each change and re-tested).
Anybody with this router and a Gigaclear line able to say "oh yes, it's this!" and has a working IPv6 setup would be really helpful?
TIA!
Chris B

Thanks; noted. At the moment I'm not even seeing any IPv6 traffic.

I don't have your ISP but one thing that helped with my setup with an ISP with known IPv6 issues was to use a 3rd party dns. Its been rock solid ever since.

I’m told that it’s an Adtran 621i XGS-PON ONT. There’s nothing obvious on the front of the unit.
I’m based in Cambridgeshire, but as far as I know, they Gigaclear system isn’t region specific.

Ok so UK region.
NG is aware of current FW issues happening with IPv6. I recommend keeping IPv6 disabled for now until next FW update appears. Should be a v12 version that could have this fix included. Not sure when this new FW will be coming to your region. My region NA already has it and if all goes well, should be coming to the 870 series as well.Might open a support ticket with NG support as well to let them know about this if you feel the need.

I spoke to Gigaclear and they advise as below which aligns with what you suggested as well as the earlier routers being able to setup an IPv6 connection; so it looks like I'll just have to wait for the former to be fixed at Netgear. Thanks again for everyone's help here.
From our side, we have completed all checks and can confirm that IPv6 is correctly provisioned on the circuit. Our logs show that your connection has successfully been assigned the following IPv6 Prefix Delegation:
Jun 30, 2026 @ 16:06:22 Jun 30 2026 16:06:22 UTC Connect: [S1673163 (5407.7d34.92f3)] IP=216.213.190.62 IPv6NA= IPv6PD=2a06:61c1:179d::/48 Jun 30, 2026 @ 16:06:22
This confirms that the service is provisioned correctly on our network.
The IPv6 allocation we provide is a dedicated /48 prefix assigned to your connection. While this prefix remains the same for the lifetime of your service under normal operation, it must still be obtained using DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation (DHCPv6-PD). The DHCPv6 exchange allows our network to establish the required session state and correctly route the allocated prefix to your connection. For this reason, the IPv6 prefix should not be manually configured on the WAN interface.
Based on the information provided, it appears that the Netgear Orbi 872 is not successfully requesting or accepting the DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation from the WAN interface. As your previous Linksys router was able to obtain IPv6 successfully, this would suggest that the service itself is operating correctly.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide configuration support for third party routers. We would therefore recommend checking the Netgear IPv6 configuration to ensure it is configured for native IPv6 using DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation (DHCPv6-PD), rather than any tunnel mechanism or static/manual IPv6 configuration.
If the router continues not to obtain an IPv6 prefix after verifying the configuration, Netgear may be able to advise whether this model supports DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation with your current firmware.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Does Auto config or Static work?
Does a ethernet connected PC see any IPv6 when connected to the RBR when Auto Config or DHCP is enabled for IPv6 on the RBR?

Thanks for picking up on this one.
>> What Firmware version is currently loaded?
V10.5.20.4_1.3.5
>> What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Adtran; the exact model is hidden behind a large desk ATM but the standard install from about 18 months ago.
>> Does Auto config or Static work?
Neither offer any IPv6 on the WAN, no.
>> Does a ethernet connected PC see any IPv6 when connected to the RBR when Auto Config or DHCP is enabled for IPv6 on the RBR?
No.

Would be good to get the Adran model# information.
Also can you connect one ethernet PC to the Adtran instead of the RBR and see if IPv6 is picked up by this one PC?
What region are you located?
