Orbi doesn't see an internet connection when connected to 2.5gbps port on modem

I have a new internet provider (EzFiber) and they have installed a Nokia modem and my plan supports 2.5 Gbps and their technician validated that I am getting 2.5 Gbps on the modem. I have connected my Orbi 7 router to the modem through ethernet cable. Even though the Nokia modem is showing online but Orbi doesn't see an internet connection and keeps on blinking purple.

The internet package comes with one Eero 6E WiFi router as part of package. When I connect Eero 6E 2.5Gbps port to the Nokia modem everything works fine. Eero 6E also has 1 Gbps port and when I connect it to my Orbi 7 using ethernet cable it starts working but since that Eero 6E port is limited to 1 Gbps I am not able to get full 2.5 Gbps on my Orbi 7 :-(. Any clues on why I am not able to connect modem's 2.5 Gbps port directly to my Orbi 7? I don't want to use Eero 6E as an intermediary between my modem and Orbi 7.

  • The modem was changed yesterday because of some ISP issue. There were setting on the old modem containing my Orbi's MAC and IP Address that were causing a conflict with my replaced modem (New Profile) that were resulting Orbi not getting an IP Address. 2nd level support cleared the old modem's profile from the system and everything is working as expected. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

  • What nokia modem is it?

When it connects (or not), is it not connecting at all or connecting at only 1gig speeds an not the 2.5gig speeds?

The Nokia model is X5-010X-Q. The fiber connection is coming into Nokia modem and it has 1 Ethernet Port (2.5 Gbps) for internet connectivity to routers. When I connect it to Orbi router, the purple light starts blinking and no Orbi says no internet. But when I connect Nokia modem to Eero 6E router it is working fine. Eero 6E reports speed closer to 2.5 Gbps (as expected). Then I connect Orbi to Eero 6E's 1 Gbps port and Orbi is working fine. The question is what is preventing Orbi to behave erroneously when it is connected directly to Nokia.

It is often useful to connect a computer directly to the Ethernet port on the fiber modem to verify that it gets an internet connection.

For example, if ezfiber requires a user ID and password for connection, the Orbi will have to be configured with that information.  If the installation tech set up the eero WiFi router, perhaps that information can be found in the router?
