ORBI dropping connection - replaced same issue - with VPN works
After 5+ years of no issues, I started having devices dropping and not able to load on my Orbi RBR50. I made the $1300 upgrade to the RBE971 and am having the same, if not more problems.
Here are some things I notice -
1. for whatever reason it seems like most tvs are streaming fine.
2. Loading websites is an issue even when on a wired connection, but other items that require connectivity work fine. If I connect to my VPN, websites work again.
3. I had my ISP out and all checked out. They set up their router and everything worked perfectly for a few days. When I went back to ORBI, nothing loads.
WiFi is basically unusable on phones and computers. The only thing that I can think of that changed is that we got new neighbors. We have 1 acre lots so they are not close by and I have checked to see that we are on a different channel.
I have had a ticket open for over a month with netgear and have had little to no response on troubleshooting. Help!

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended. If your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Try option #2 first...Try using custom DNS services on the RBR. Try Cloudfare or Quad9
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, IPv6, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, Traffic Meter.

IPv6 was the problem. This fixed the issue that same day. Thanks for a great response!
