RBE971 constant ethernet disconnections

Hi all,

I regularly observe ethernet disconnection of the RBE971 (firwmware V9.12.2.1_1.2.10)

Setup is set as follow:

RBE971 in AP Mode connected throught ethernet to a Linux router, ethernet card is an Intel I-226V (2.5g).

I've tried all the ethernet interfaces of the RBE971, and i face the same issue.

On the router side, the RBE971 is part of a linux bridge, where spanning tree is disabled.

But i observe the same issue when the RBE971 is not part of the linux bridge.

Does anyone observe similar issues?

Also, from time to time, i can observe random reboot.

I've open a case for this one, but did not get much traction, yet.

Thanks

  • are you going:

Linux router----->wan port on 971--->lan port out----->971 satellites?

    What linux router is it?

What gateway is the linux connected to?

      Hi Plemans,

The linux router is connected with fiber to my ISP, meaning that i maintain my own router here, which have always worked.

ISP ---> Linux Router ----> Wan port on 971 -----> Wifi BlackHaul ----> 970 Satellite

I tried the 10g wan port, the 10g ethernet port, and all 2.5g ethernet port on the 971 with same results.

have you tried going ISP gateway--->Orbi?
Pull out the linux gateway to see if its causing an issue.

What is the indication of Ethernet disconnection?

    • LED on the server Ethernet RJ45 connector indicates loss of connection?
(a bit frustrating that Netgear did not provide LEDs on the router RJ45 ports, but understandable that many customers would not want "blinking lights" if the router is placed where they would be a distraction.)
    • The Linux server alerts that "connection lost"?
    • The Orbi router Advanced Tab display "Show Statistics" indicates no connection?
    • Devices connected to the Orbi router lose internet?

Does anything appear in the Orbi log?

Debug logs have been shared in case #48241048

All devices connected through the RBE971 lost internet and lan since the interface of the RBE971 is down

  • How is the RBR configured or AP mode? Using static or dynamic IP address configuration?

How I have my 970 series configured for AP Mode using wireless BH connections for the RBS:

As i said previously, the RBE971 is configured in AP mode.

IP address is obtain by dhcp from the router.

Setting a static IP will do nothing here, since the link is physically down when the problem occur.

Does the RBR and RBS work if you configure router mode on the RBR and use the host routers DMZ for the RBRs IP address it gets from the host router?

What CAT# LAN cable is being used? CAT6A STP is recommended.
