Resetting Orbi 770

I am trying to reset an Orbi 770 router and satellites in preparation for selling the system (I replaced it with an Orbi 870).  I have read that I should press the reset button with a straightened paper clip for 30 seconds, until the LED glows amber.  I believe the LED referred to is the one next to the power outlet, which is now lit green (and not the main LED ring).  However, when I do this, the LED remains green and does not turn or blink amber.  Is this the proper method, or am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks for any help.

  • Thanks very much everyone.  I was finally able to get all three units reset.  I had to let the router stay on for a couple of minutes before starting the reset procedure.

could also just log into the router and in the advanced settings, erase to factory

One way to test a Factory Reset is to observe the WiFi signal. Assuming that you had changed the WiFi from the default value printed on the label to something more personal, a Factory Reset will return the WiFi signal to those default credentials.  Also, logging into the web interface will accept "admin" and "password".

I was able to reset the two satellites -- their lights turned amber and began flashing, but not the router.  Strange.
