RAX20 - Intermittent-DNS lookup
Hello! I recently set up the RAX20 (AX1800) and I have been getting good speed, low and stable ping, and stable continuous transfer rates with the router. Overall very happy and see about 160 to 200 Mbps across the house.
The problem - websites intermittently fail to load. The site will hang as if the DNS cannot find the address.
I have left the DNS settings on the router to default. My previous router used the default DNS provided by the ISP without issue.

what modem/gateway is it connected to?
do you have IPv6 enabled? Have you tried enabling it?
Another thing is you can try googles dns at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
The modem is Technicolor TC4350,
and IPv6 is not enabled.I'm going to try Google DNS next but it's confusing as to why it should make a difference. I want to understand what the RAX20 is doing differently that DNS lookup would be impacted
We've seen multiple product lines with dns issues. We've also seen windows defaulting to looking up ipv6 addresses first. Thats why sometimes it works if you refresh a time or two.
so both options are worth trying out.
- Same issue. DNS lookups are intermittently slow. Rebooting both cable modem (CM1200) and RAX20 helps mitigate intermittent slow DNS lookups but by 24 hours this issue returns.
Setup:
ISP: Xfinity
Cable Modem: CM1200
Router: RAX20 using latest firmware as of 2022-01-24
