RAX20 I can no longer change transmit power level

I can no longer change transmit power level on RAX20.  I don't want to transmit on higher levels.  I want 25%.  Update in firmware must have changed this.  I bought the router because I wanted to lower transmit power levels for better healthy environment.  This needs to be fixed.

Was this ever possible for that router?

If so, find the firmware that supported this and install that.

You then run various other risks – on security for example – but at least they won't fry your brain.

How do I find the last update that still allowed power level management?  Downloading and trying each of the latter firmware versions until I find the most recent that doesn't break the power level management would be extensively time-consuming.  Maybe someone on the Netgear team knows the answer.

  • Any time you feel a firmware update has caused problems, the first course of action is to perform a firmware default reset and reconfigure from scratch.  Do not import a previously saved configuration file.  That action will often reinstate whatever issue you are trying to correct.

Have you performed a firmware default reset on your router since the firmware was updated?

      Kitsap,

I used to live in Kitsap County.  Bremerton to be precise.  I bet you are familiar with the place.  Cool name!

  • I'm still wanting to change the power level on my RAX20.  Maybe someone new will see this.  I was hoping for a list of firmwares for the RAX20 that shows changes on each version.

  • NG seems to not support power level adjustments on there routers anymore. If NG hasn't change this by now then mostly likely NG won't.
