RAX20 login timed out

I've tried changing the password several times, but those passwords do not work.  The only way I can currently access my router is via routerlogin.net, but this log in does not give me the ability to update my firmware or see what version I am currently running.  I am using Windows 10 on a desktop computer.

  • I did some more playing around, and I now believe that because the RAX20 is an older model of router, that Netgear Genie will no longer work as it was intended.  I did login using "routerlogin.net" and have been able to get the password changed to one the router now recognized.  I was able to get everything changed that I needed to, so I am happy about that.  Thanks for all your assistance with this problem.  You can close this ticket now.

    Regards,

    Paul

What web browser are your using?

When you have accessed the user interface using a web browser on a computer via routerlogin.net, the firmware version is shown in the upper right hand corner of the screen under the words Router Firmware Version.

Once you are logged in to the user interface, go to the Advanced Tab -> Administration -> Firmware Update and you can check to see if there is a new version available from the update server.  Most experienced Netgear users prefer to perform a manual firmware update.  Here are the instructions:

Your password is working fine if you are successful to log in from routerlogin.net.

I may have asked this question the wrong way and that would be my fault.  What I can't do on

my RAX20 router is log into the "router settings" with a password.  No matter what password I

enter, it times out every time within 30 seconds of searching.  I need to get to the router setting

menu to be able to upgrade my firmware.  I tried entering the IP address and that fails as well.

I've reset the router to factory default and it still doesn't take a password or the IP address.  Is there

a way to fix this problem?  Sorry if I misled anyone with my original question.

        How are you doing this?

Kitsap asked an important questions that I can't see answered.

What web browser are your using?

Are there any browser messages when it times out?

        Do these help?

How do I log in to my NETGEAR wireless router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

        and this:

It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

There is very little that you cannot do if you access the router at routerlogin.net.

In fact, if you get into the browser graphical user interface (GUI) in that way you can do a heck of a lot more than you can with the app, a dumbed down way of doing things.

In addition to the advice from Kitsap I suggest checking the manual for your device.
