Rax50 Manage Connected Devices
Hello Netgear Community,
I have a Rax50 router which I recently rebooted due to some connectivity issues (not a factory reset). After the reboot all my settings were gone as if I did a factory reset. Prior to the reboot I was able to turn on/off connection to the router for all the connected devices. It seems as though the only way for me to do that is to sign up for parental control. Any informaiton and or guidance to asstat is greatly appreciated.
If you press the home button in the upper left hand corner of the nighthawk app, does it list the device as RAX50 (Connected Locally)?
If the device partially lost configs and the app is trying to do a remote connection, it will likely fail until the router gets a full factory reset either via the reset button being pushed for around 15 seconds, or the factory reset via the advanced menu, though a local connection is likely to work.
If it still does not work, then you may need to do a proper factory reset, since it is not normal behavior for config settings to be lost, and as such, is likely indication of some corrupt NVRAM data (A proper factory reset clear it and loads it with defaults).

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Smart Parental Controls/Circle product. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Smart Parental Controls and Circle. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Hello Furry,
Thank you for yur response but I am not looking to sign up for Parental Controls. I would like to be able to turn on/off access to wifi through my router. I was able to do this prior to the reboot. After the reboot, my only option is to sign up for Parental Control which I do not want.

Are you referring to the pause/ resume options in the nighthawk app where internet connectivity can be controlled for each device?

Yes.

For that function, make sure the app islists that it is connected to the RAX50 when you press the home button in the app, Sometimes if a drvice gets factory reset, and then set up via the web UI while multiple routers or APs are listed in the nighthawk app, it may automatically switch to a different device in the list, even though it still has access to the main router, thus seeing the devices on your network but not having the option to control their access.
Another potential issue, (more common if it is connected behing another router (common in cases where someone gets one of those modem and router combos from a cable provider, and does not set it as a transparent bridge. If the RAX50 gets set up in AP mode, then the access control functions will stop working.
PS if you have multiple APs or extenders, try to conect to the WiFi AP created by the RAX50 directly and run the app so that it establishes a connection with the app locally at least once after a factory reset. As a side note, if the router ended up with any NVRAM corruption that caused some configurations to be lost, it is best to do a proper factory reset before setting it up again fully.

Your screenshot is what I had before the reboot. Now it is gone.
