RAX80 New Firmware V1.0.6.138_1.0.76 = No internet

I just wanted to give a heads up on my experience. I updated to firmware V1.0.6.138_1.0.76. The update happened with no issue and my status said it was connected to the Internet but there was no internet! I was able to ping 8.8.8.8 but still no go.

I rolled back to Firmware Version 1.0.5.132 and had no issues.

Looks like there might be a fault with V1.0.6.138_1.0.76

  • After you updated, did you try a factory resets?

Its usually the first step we recommend after a firmware change if there's issues.

Definitely not going to erase all my settings. So no I did not do that. Rolling back fixed the issue.

Next time make a backup and try the factory reset.

Fixes a lot of issues after firmware changes.

glad you got it working though.

You might mark it solved so others aren't still trying to fix it.

  • I had the same experience.  After upgrading to the 138 firmware, it completely killed my internet connectivity.  I called support, and basically got all the stupid router setup questions.  Having owned nearly 10 different nighthawk routers and experience updating them all and setting them up in a home with VPN tunnel and 40 active devices I’m not oblivious to setting up a router.  I would up have to return back to the 132 firmware myself. I sort of shocked they didn’t take this firmware update down as it had to of generated thousands of calls as a result of the failure it has created.

Was a factory reset performed and setup from scratch after loading v.138?

Did you power OFF the ISP modem/ONT as well for 1 minute  the back ON then complete the setup wizard?

I did not perform a factory reset.  All the updates I have done previous with this router having owned it for several years did not require it, nor did it cause an issue.  I have too many modified settings to go this route as it would take me some time to redo all the setting and modifications.  The 132 firmware worked well so downgrading back wasn’t a problem for me.
