C3000 and C6300 Remote reset ? Forced Reboot

Hi Everyone

I seem to have something coming my way to either force a reset or crash my cable modems?

experienced this on both C3000 and C6300... I can not tell what really is happening ...

by looking at the logs... UPNP is disables, remote management is disabled, unless the ISP has

a way ... the ISP does not know anything on this ....

needless to say i changed the password on the boxes.

ideally a cable modem sniffer may be useful, but i can not tell what is happening?

any ideas on firmware upgrade or some way to detect what is really going on?

there does not seem to be lots of logging internally.... on the C6300 noticed DOS attacks

from 2 different ip address but they did not correlate with a crash.

on the C3000 the dates are for 1970 ....

any ideas on how to figure out what is happening are appreciated.

Wireless is enabled, and i am using wired ethernet, all devices loose link ....

thanks

roger

    Hello newbiecsco

Is your ISP Time Warner Cable? if so they are pushing new firmware in the coming weeks to these modem that fix a lot of issues. But to answer your question yes the cable company do have remote restarts they can send to cable modems they do not have to be logged into your modem they are able to do this through the diagnostic tools they have. Also if you are getting alot of modem crashes this could be to weak signal do you have a cable splitter hooked up to the modem if so try to remove that.
