C3700 OCCASIONALLY DROPS CONNECTION

I have a Netgear C3700 and it keeps dropping the wifi connection.  I would have to directly connect my laptop to C3700.  This is for home use and both the laptop and C3700 are located in the same room within 5ft.

MODEL            C3700

  • I have the same issue. Last night, the device stopped giving out a wifi signal completely. I can connect to the network with a cable. But the wifi signal doesn’t show up on any device, even though the wifi led light is lit on the device.

I have tried restarting it multiple times. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

My 2.4 worked the first day we had it. Then hasn't worked since, if there is no fix it will be going back.
  • After digging into this I discovered that my HP 7800 printer was either sending or receiving web traffic that my logs on the C3700 was intupreting as a "DoS" (denial of service attack). Within a few seconds of these DoS messages my modem would stop all traffic. It would take several minutes for it to resync and come back up.

Here is an example of what to look for in log files:

[DoS attack: Teardrop or derivative] from 192.168.0.18, port 21358

You will see many entries in the log files for DoS attacks from outside—non LAN internet IP addresses—that do not create this issue. However, when I see a DoS from a LAN address as above "192.168.0.18" (My HP Printer) then the drops occur.

An easy test is to power off the printer for a few hours or whatever LAN device is at the ip in your log file. This should fix the drops.

I hope this helps someone in the future.
