C6230: I bought a new 2021 phone; now I cannot connect to wifi network using my modem router

Everything was working fine, until I decided to upgrade to a new cellphone (2021 Moto G Power).  My new phone connects just fine to a friends wifi network, but I cannot get it to connect to my home wifi network via my NETGEAR WiFi Cable Modem Router.  When I type in the password, it says "check password and try again"!  Trying again is not working; what should I do?!?

  • There is a chance your new phone will not handle the length or complexity of the password you have assigned to your home Wi-Fi.

For test purposes only, recommend you log in to your modem/router from a computer and web browser and establish a new simple Wi-Fi password and then check if you phone will connect.  If yes, you need to figure out what the length and complexity of password your new phone will accept.  If no, there may be a setting in your new phone that configures connection to your home Wi-Fi.  Does your friend where it does connect use a Netgear modem/router?

Thanks for your reply.  Somehow the next day, the issue apparently resolved itself!?!

Have you set up your modem/router to allow all devices to connect to the wifi?

New phones have a habit of constantly changing their mac address as a "security" feature. If you have set up the wifi to reject unknown mac addresses, it may tell your phone to "go away".
