Also, not sure if this is related or not:
If I try to change DNS servers to google's and then click apply in my settings they do not save. I get a '500 - Internal Server Error' message and the router/modem reboot without my changes.

thank you for posting this. We are looking for customer such as you who are having problems specifically with "spectrum".
1. What FW do you have on the device?
2. what happens when you take the device in NAT/Gateway mode?
3. Does the WIFI come if you FACTORY RESET the device and NOT connect it to spectrum and WIFI suddenly goes when you connect it to the spectrum network?
Please URGENTLY PM with your info.

1. V2.01.18
2. If that is the equivalent of switching router mode to 'No' under advanced settings then I was able to access the internet with no issues via ethernet cable hooked up to my laptop.
3. I factory reset it many times and still was unable to access internet outside of the above parameters.
Update: I somehow restored my access to normal. Although I don't know how. I pressed the two buttons on the front of the router/modem (one for WifI, one for WPS) so that their green lights turned off. I waited a minute or two and then pressed them again until the lights came back on. I was able to access the internet after going through those steps. Everything went back to working just fine. Wifi included. I don't know why that fixed it.
