cable modem CM400 update problem
My internet has been out for about two weeks. I first contacted my internet provider(Xfinity) and after calling multiple times and even having a technician come in, they told me that the modem tried to go through an update and then the update failed somehow. After the update failed my modem got stuck(?) and now it doesnt work. The power is fine, the internet connection is fine, but only the red power light shows. Every once and a while all the lights blink and then it goes back to just the red light. I have restarted the modem so many times, I did a factory reset, I unplugged it for a day and then plugged it back in. Nothing. Someone PLEASE help me, I am a college student I need my internet back!! I cant keep doing my classes / homework at the library!!!

The only way that your modem can update is if your ISP started it. This is not something you can do.
If your firmware is outdated, you cannot manually upgrade your cable modem’s or modem router’s firmware. You must contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to upgrade your firmware.
This is odd:

The power :ED should be green. Red does not seem to exist.
If only the [pwer LED is on, then the Internet connection is not fine.
Visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Troubleshoot With the LEDs.
You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.Your modem dates back to 2015. Your description smells more like hardware failure than anything else.
You have posted your message in the section of this community given over to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. (This is easily done, given Netgear's complicated community structure.)
Many questions apply to different types of device, so you might get responses here, but you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:

Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status page.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.
