CAX30 - Optimum Internet - Internet Disconnects
Hello.
I currently have Optimum Internet in South Texas and using the Netgear CAX30 modem/router. It is now May 29th and about 2 days ago I started to have intermittent internet disconnections. I noticed that while using the Nighthawk App, there was a new firmware version released so I'm now using v1.4.12.2. At this point I'm still having internet drop off issues and I know when I call Optimum Internet they'll immediately point me back to Netgear to resolve issues with the modem/router just as they did when I first purchased this device. They made it very difficult for me to activate this device on their network and took days for them to configure something on their end to even let it connect to the internet.
Now that the firmware has been updated, is there something Optimum needs to re-configure on their end to discontinue the internet drop issues I'm experiencing?
These logs are difficult to read when the time stamps aren't CST time, I've tried to set the time on the router and the logs still are difficult for me to follow. The disconnects seem to happen about 30 to 45 minutes. Then I'll have to wait for the modem to reconnect to the internet. I've observed the model/router and it seems to not only disconnect from the service but maybe it's also rebooting. I'm concerned that it's rebooting on it's own since that makes me think that it may be a hardware issue.

The event log and the cable connections page help us to check and see if its a line issue. You can post a screensnip of them back here.
but you can check your line.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
If you can, simply connect the modem right where the coax comes into the home. This prevents wiring in the home from being the issue. And some ISP’s charge if the wiring issue is in the home. So this helps prevent this.Hello. Thanks for the reply.
I know there is a splitter on the coax cable before the modem/router as this was setup that way with Optimum's modem/router because I was having similar issues with it disconnecting. They wanted to add the splitter to resolve signal issues and it did indeed stop the internet from disconnecting with their modem/router. I have yet to remove the splitter to see how it performs without it on the CAX30.
