Chromecast and AP Isolation Setting

Several people have had problems setting up the Gen 1 Chromecast on their Guest Network. Usually they get a message from the Chromecast to disable "AP Isolation" in the router, and cannot find such a setting in the C7000. Several people on the forum have said there is no such setting. But there is an equivalent setting - hidden in plain sight. Go to routerlogin.net in your browser (this setting is not accessible from the Genie), and click on the Guest Network menu. Click the third box in the settings window "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network," click  "Apply," and you're done. You may cut off another device connected to the guest network but you can always reconnect. Your Gen 1 Chromecast will now connect to your Guest Network. Keep in mind that the Gen 1 Chromecast only works on the 2.4GHz band.  Also keep in mind that Guest Network devices like laptops can now acesses other connected devices on the same network including nonmedia files on any drive you've attached to the ReadyShare USB port!

I did not have to do this for the Gen 2 Chromecast connected my 5GHz band guest network. It just connected without the AP isolation problem. But if you run into the same message, the third button in the Guest network menu works to disable AP isolation.

This is what worked for me. I didn't see any mention of an AP isolation setting anywhere else at Netgear so I hope this helps.
