So I currently have a ASUS - AC3100 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router and a ARRIS SB8200 on Cox GigaBlast service. I had the technician come out because I was only getting 450mb even if we hooked right to the cable modem. He recommended that I buy the Netgear Nighhawk CM1100 to get better speed. So I am going to costco today and buying the CM1100. I hope this is not a waste of money since my SB8200 was suppost to support Gig internet with the DOCSIS 3.1. He also loaded the latest firmware on my SB8200 and I had the latest firmware on my AC3100. Any suggestions would be appreciated since I spent alot of money on my current equipment. Thanks in advance.

the Arris sb8200 should support gigabit speeds. What website are you using for testing? I have gigabit and many speedtest websites won't max it out. you can try. I know both of these can get close to maxing out gigabit. http://speedtest.googlefiber.net/ http://speedtest.xfinity.com/

Maybe a stupid question but if I install two Cat6a cables between the 2 Lan ports on my CM1100 and my wireless router will it increase the speed?
