CM2050v Slow Upload Speed, #CM2050V

It’s been almost a year since I bought my Netgear #CM2050V modem to use with my Comcast service. The modem NEVER delivered the upload speed I’m paying for. Comcast promised a firmware update that it has not delivered and blames a Netgear hardware problem for the delay

Does any one know when Netgear will replace these modems with hardware that works with the Comcast system, as advertised?

What speed are you paying for?

The ISP is in charge of supporting modems on there network and supporting them on either there standard tier speeds or there next generation speeds. NG only gives the ISP FW to test and then certify for use on the ISP network. It's up to the ISP to make that happen.

You'll need to wait fo the ISP and NG to get the CM2050v to support the higher speeds. ISP isn't supporting the CM2050v on there next gen speed tier as of yet:

  • The CM2050V has appeared on approved equipment lists since early this year. Comcast says that they are having difficulty getting the CM2050V to work with their network, and are still working on the speed issue. Doesn't Netgear work with cable providers when it releases equipment?

I won't be buying Netgear equipment going forward.

Yes. And it's up to the ISP to get the Cm modem working and tested and certified on there system. Does work with NG as needed I presume. Doesn't happen over night and problems may be seen by the ISP that cause problems down the line. ISP serivces are complex systems. May effect other Mfrs as well. So to blame NG would be incorrect or claim to avoid NG would be invalid. But your choice good luck.
