COMCAST ACCESS network refused access to two CM500 NETGEAR July 22, 2020
CM500-100NAS was working for 1.5 years approx. @ 7:30am Comcast access was refused, all lights looked normal. I was working at home, have a layoff notice too. Comcast said my modem was bad. I had a Bestbuy warranty so I went to replace the modem. The new one lights looked the normal. Comcast said it was bad too. I had to get back online to train people. So I had to go to Comcast to lease a modem for $14/month that I do not want. How can I test this modem that I have sitting on my shelf? I have seen this same type of issue on a comcast blog. Help me get rid of the modem. I do not have fiber or another cable company in our corporate owned country with ZERO competition. I may have the new T-Mobile 50 mps alternative but it seems limited.
Help.

Seems like CC is not taking action rather then just blaming modems.
Ask for tech to come on site.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute them back ON.

Thje comcast worked right away. The Netgear modem worked fine for 1,5 years.
The comcast modem has worked since July. How could it be the cable, etc?
I agree I probably need to get them onsite. I would rather get rid of this company!

Try the modem out at a different location to see if the modem work there. Like a friend, family...if the problems doesn't follow, then you'll know it's not the modem. If the problem does follow, the you'll know the modem is the problem.
