Disable modem on C7000v2 modem/router

Hello,

My cable company is making me to use their modem and I need to either rent a router from them or purchase my own. I’m currently using a Nighthawk C7000v2 and was hoping to just use it as a router instead of a modem and router duo. (impacted by covid and trying to save some money)

Is there anyway to disable the modem on my C7000v2 to use it only as a router? My cable company told me it’s possible to but I’m way out of my league here and can’t seem to find a clear answer. Can anyone provide some insight on this?

Thanks

       Why?

Without an Ethernet WAN/Internet port?  I don't see how.

       Get _them_ to explain how?

It's possible to use a model Cxxxx as a _modem_ only.  Visit
http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for
Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for
"Connect Your Modem Router to a Router After Installation and
    Activation".

To use a model Cxxxx as a _router_ only, it would need an Ethernet
    WAN/Internet port.

      Why?

      >> they advised that my modem is using DOCSIS 3.0 which they are no longer supporting and need to use a modem with 3.1 or above. Technically I’m not forced to use their modem but I’ll need to spend less money if I only need to buy just a router.

      ——-
I took your advised and called spectrum who told me that they had other customers who successfully disabled the modem to use their modem/router duo as a router and would need to go through Netgear to do this. I called Netgear for technical support to confirm this and provided the serial number. Called two different representatives and both told me it is possible to turn the C7000v2 into just a router and disable the modem. As my nighthawk was purchased a while ago, I would need to pay $49 for a one time technical support call for them to help me set it up. I don’t want to pay $49 just to have them tell me that they gave me wrong information and it’s actually not possible…
One representative advised that it’s very easy to take care of advised me to do “bridge mode” and something about disabling the wifi radio? All the research I’ve done at this makes it seem like both bridge mode and disabling the wifi radio is to disable the modem which isn’t what I need. Unless I have misinterpreted the information?

Briidge mode or NAT disable or NAT OFF means that the router and wifi portion of the modem are disabled, leaving the modem portion only enabled.

You can look in the modems web page under Advanced Settings for anything having to do with Bridge mode or NAT mode.

Would be interested in what you find.

The C series modem can only work in Gateway router or modem only modes...
