Extreme BufferBloat Issues W/ Nighthawk C7000 Modem/Router - GAMER BEWARE!
NetGear Community/Mods,
Here are the typical results I've been seeing:
1. On ethernet connection: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/11684011 (F on Bufferbloat)
2. WIFI 5G: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/11684541 (F on Bufferbloat)
3. WIFI 2.4G: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/11684573 (NOTE: Ironically, this received a B rating on Bufferbloat)
Prior to using your equipment, I was using a Comcast issued modem (newer) and I was getting a A or B rating...
As a gamer, these results are unacceptable. From what I'm reading across the net, it sounds like a FIRMWARE issue is plaguing this modem/router, not to mention the reported issues so many are reporting regarding the ethernet/5GHz just randomly dropping the internet connection, which I've experienced too on my 5GHz wi-fi using this Nighthawk C7000.
Before I make a decision here on keeping it or returning it to best buy and going with a competitor, I'm curious:
1. NetGear mods, are you aware and passing on the community feedback to address these issues/concerns?
2. Is there a firmware fix in the next 2 weeks - month in the works?
If not, then as a GAMER I cannot tolerate such latencies and will be forced to return this product. Shame, really. Looks pretty cool, but that doesn't mean much when you're staring at it in frustration and not the GAME I should be playing online.
(This is my first run with Netgear products...not impressed so much after dishing out over $200 for a product that already seems defective from out of the box)

This performance is especially disappointing since you can buy an IQrouterv2 from Amazon for less than $150. The IQrouter has the LEDE firmware pre-installed, which contains all the fruits of the bufferbloat research - see What can I do about Bufferbloat?. (The IQrouterV2 is a TP-Link Archer C7, with the new firmware: it'll easily keep up with a 100 mbps cable modem feed.)
