Having trouble connecting Ring device

For the life of me I cannot get my Ring device to connect to my gateway.  This device was able to connect to a different router (xfinity) at some else's house.  I've tried setting up a DHCP reservation with no luck.  I've run out of ideas and don't know what else to do.  Anyone else have this problem or can offer me a solution?

Thanks!

    Which ring device?

during setup? What errors do you get?

do you have your phone/tablet connected to the 2.4ghz during setup?

Did you contact ring for help setting up their device?

Thanks for your reply.  Its the first generation video doorbell.  The errors I get are pretty much that ring cannot connect to the network.  I am trying to connect to the 2.4 newtwork, the same one that our phones are connected to.  I tried to contact ring but i am out of the window for free customer service and Amazon help was worthless.  It has to be the router since i got it to connect on an xfinity gateway no problem.  I don't know what else to try.

Any special characters in the ssid or password? if so, remove any special characters/spaces

Have you tried a different dns provider like googles. at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4

        or cloudfare at 1.1.1.1
