Horrible wifi wi-fi speeds with C7100V, 2G 36Up 34Dwn: 5G 154Up 38Dwn

Are there any settings I can play with to get better wifi (wi-fi) speeds?

Current Speed Test done sitting next to the device from my iPhone11 is 2g band 36 up and 34 down,  on 5G band 154 up and 38 down

Previously I was renting a device from Comcast that could get the gig speeds and I got as high as 608 up and 33 down.

Yes at the moment I have a 1gig plan but intend to cut it back to 300-600 so this router should be fine. Trying to "cut the cord" so I bought the C7100V to save some $$$ from renting.

Obviously I'm not super technical with these so please ignore my mistakes lol

Thanks for any help or tips I can try

Unlikely on wifi, especially on a device from 2019.

Do not confuse connection speed with traffic speed.

Wifi speeds depend on the wifi clients. Very few, if any, will get that upload speed.

It might be worth a bit of background reading.

    Understand Wi-Fi 4/5/6 (802.11 n/ac/ad/ax)

@duckware knows their stuff and can bust a few myths and cut through marketing hype.

Double check the "Mode" configured on the 2.4 and the 5 GHz band. Don't be confused - these are not  the naked wireless speeds you can achieve. Much more this does set the max bandwidth of the two bands.

Are you located in a place where many more wireless networks are active on-air concurrently? Agee with michaelkenward - duckware has a brilliant overview and insight information on WiFi options. Yes, the 802.11ac tech is aging as we talk - technically, the C7100V is a wireless device from the last decade.

Probably, changing (especially the 5 GHz channel) could help. Curious: What channels does the device offer to you?

what wired speeds do you get?

the 5ghz should be faster than that but a lot depends on what you're incoming signal is like so its worth checking wired speeds before even testing wireless speeds.

That article was enlightening (and long)

Looks like I have some research to do but at this rate I might just be better off renting again vs spending all this $$$ hoping to figure it out
