How to turn the C6300 into a Wireless Gateway

I upgraded my Comcast/Xfinity Internet service to Extreme Pro Internet with download speeds of 400 Mbps. This upgrade requires a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. I purchased a CM1150V as my DOCSIS 3.1 device, and actually tested at 490 Mbps download speeds. Now I would like to use the C6300 (DOCSIS 3.0) as a WiFi router fed from the CM1150V. Is this possible? If so, is there a step-by-step instruction?

  • I read the message where it won't work as a router only. Aw-shucks! Purchased a new Netgear WiFi router.

Any C series modem is already a modem/router combo. They can only work in this mode or Modem Only mode. Not router mode.

You could keep the CM which are modem only units, then attached a external NetGear router it it.

    Good Luck.

         So it's a C-series modem+router, not "a C series modem".

It's not what you asked for, but you should also be able to use it as
a wireless access point.  See, for example:

But, with no (accessible) WAN/Internet Ethernet port, there's no
obvious way to connect it as a router.

         Helpful as ever.

The C6300 is only good as a paperweight to me. It is DOCSIS 3.0.

FInd a place to sell the C series modem/router. Someone may find it handy for them.

        Enjoy.
