Locked out after Nighthawk firmware update
I updated, but now I can't "see" the modem. Totally locked out.
I'm on Comcast and using my NH7000 as a hub. The internet signal is taken from my Comcast box (radios off) and sent to the NH. My desktop is plugged directly into the NH and I use the NH to send WiFi throughout the house. Comcast modem sets the ip addresses (at least it did prior to the upgrade).
I've rebooted everything.
Typing in 10.0.0.1 sends me to the Comcast modem.
Typing 10.0.0.8 (IPv4 address from ipconfig) goes nowhere.

Your not alone. I did the samething on my wndr4500 router. I can no longer login to it. I cant get to to respond to pings. Im pretty sure the firmware update bricked my router. I used a ethernet to do the update. This really pissed me off. Netgear should never publish updates that will render your router grabage. Im stuck no way to fix mine. I already order a new Router. I will never use any of there updates again. I hope u find a fix for your.
Step 1 open cmd and send a ping to 198.162.1.1. If you do not get a responce your is also dead. Unless someone can help figure this out ?. I see no wat to fix it if I cant get loginin to revert back ot the old firmware.

Did you reset the router to factory settings after the firmware flash?
New firmware sometimes introduces changes that are not compatible with the old configuration.
So a factory reset is the first thing to try if you have problems with new firmware. Sadly, you will lose your settings and with no access to the router you can't get the usual screen grabs to save them as images.I have reset mine by holding in the rest button then power on. This should have rest it ti factory settings.
I cant gain any acess using the defalt IP 198.162.1.1 or using the routerlogin site. Conecting the router directly to my PC and sending a ping I get no responce. If I cant get into the router I cant configure it. I cant go another day without a router so I already got a new one from another company.

You need to press the rest button with the power on already.
Nothing will happen when you do it with the device switched off.
