Model C6300 - How to fix very low upload speeds - Assistance needed
Hello,
I’m using a Netgear cable modem router combined with Xfinity internet service. My service plan allows up to 1000mbps download and 20mbps upload. My current upload speeds are 4-6mbps. I have no issues with my download speeds. I need assistance with fixing my upload speeds. Below are the details:
I have a desktop that is hard wired into the cable modem. As per Speedtest.net, I’m getting 5.63 mbps upload and 475 mbps download.
When wirelessly connected with an IPhone 8 using my 5GHz network, I’m getting 5.96 mbps upload and 365 mbps download.
With an IPhone 8 using my 2.4GHz network, I’m getting 4.13 mbps upload and 92 mbps download.
Here are steps that I’ve tried in order to fix the upload speed issue:
- Power cycled router – I’m on the latest firmware version (V3.01.12)
- Factor reset router using the pin hole holding down for 20 seconds
- Clicked on factory reset and reboot option through routerlogin.net
- Clicked on erase though routerlogin.net/advanced/backup settings
Note – I would normally tinker around with changing the channels, wifi password/wifi network name but my desktop is hardwired into the modem. A hardwired connection has nothing to do with those settings.
Getting 4-6 mbps for upload speeds are affecting Wi-Fi devices that are used with smart phone apps. For example – The ring door bell device.
I would really appreciate if anyone has any suggestions or advice.

Besure there are not coax cable line splitters between the modem and ISP service box.
Use good quality RG6 coax cabling up to the modem.
Contact the ISP and have them check the line signal and quality UP to the modem.

Furry, are you saying I should make sure I have a direct connection from the modem to the ISP without any splitters, correct?
It's odd that I'm getting 400 mbps download and 5 mbps upload. If the issue that you said was the problem, shouldn't my download speed be much closer to my upload speed? Thank you for your help

Yes, splitters can induce noise or attenuate the signal on the line going to the modem.
Someting to get in contact with your ISP and have them help you ensure the signal is good up the the modem.
ALso be sure you have a supporting PC or mobile device that supports testing of 1000Mbps. Not all PCs can perform this test. Some older single or dual core CPUs are not fast enough. Mobile devices may not be spec'd or designed for this as well. Most newer generation phones should be. Contact the mfr to see.
