modem and router

I have the CM700 modem and my router is Nighthawk X4S - AC2600. I’m having a problem with the download and upload speed. I’m supposed to have 300mbps Download speed but only getting 50mbps. And upload only hittting 5mbps but should be getting 30 mbps. I contacted my provider and they are telling me that I might have a defect device which I think it is impossible because I got both devices July 2017. Also when I plugged my laptop the modem I was getting 20 mbps Download, and 30 mbps upload. So I have no clue what is going on with my device.

    Hello Ish_y

     

    This sounds like the right codes are not applied to the modem from the ISP to give the correct speeds or there is to much usage in your area causing slower speeds or the cable company requires more channels on the modem to get that speed but if you believe the modem is defective I would suggest contacting support.
