Nighthawk R8000 X6 combined with AC1750 model C6300 Cable modem
Hello everyone, Trying to get a little help and some advice on my system. I am currently in the process in upgrading my internet service with COX communications to get the Ultimate Internet Package and was wondering if I am doing an over kill with my set-up. I currently have the Nighthawk R8000 X6 with the COX modem they provided but I recently purchased the AC1750 Model C6300 WiFi Cable Modem Router since COX advised me that they recommend to have modem capable of DOCSIS 3.0. Will I be able to use both these units at the same time? If so, any suggestions on the setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use both at the same time. Actually you should have got CM600 modem instead of C6300.
But if you have C6300 already, you can turn it is Bridge mode (turn off Router mode) and connect R8000 behind it.
R8000 is much higher spec'ed product and has more features than C6300 and it makes sense to operate it as a router.

vkdelta,
Thanks for the response. After speaking to one of the Techs at COX, they told me that the C6300 would work for my internet package I was getting but I wouldn't be getting the speed that the package was offering because of the 8x4 channeling. I think he was mistaken because the C6300 is a 16x4. After doing a little more research, I am in the process of swapping the C6300 out and getting the C7000. That one is rated at 24x8. I have them coming out on Monday to upgrade my service so I should be ready by then.
Do you guys have any links with pictures or videos to show me how to get the best setup with my equipment? I'm pretty new to the terminology when it comes to networking but I really want to learn the ins and outs to get the best performance out of my home network.

Instead of C7000, get a CM600. It is cheaper and fits your needs. If oyu have already got C7000 it is fine.
go to the user manual here and follow section on "Cable Your Modem Router to a Router and Use Bridge Mode" (page11)

sorry, no official videos I am aware of.
Basically you will connect like this:
<ISP COAX CABLE> ---> C7000 ---ethernet port--- R8000 -^-^-^ wireless PCs/laptops
I can help further if needed.
