Nighthawk X4S AC3200 (C7800) configure upload speed?
Hello, I am trying to see if there is a way for a regular person like myself to "configure" the upload speed of my C7800.
Recently, Xfinity changed our areas upload caps from 40mbps to 200mbps. I reached out to Xfinity support who said our modem was supported and they attempted to provision it to no avail due to them being unable to change the configuration settings of the new upload speed. They did say the provision worked though and suggested I talk to Netgear.
I talked to Netgear support, they didn't seem to help much as I was not under any sort of tech contract, but suggested I do a factory reset. I have done this but with no luck yet. I was debating the tech support contract, but the agent I talked to made me feel like this would be over their head which is why I declined to go that route..
I am debating asking Xfinity if they can attempt to re-provision it again as maybe the reset removed that - but worst case if they cannot or have trouble again is there any way for me to somehow do this configuration setting change to allow for the 200mbps upload change? Or am I maybe missing something that the support people missed as the support lines definitely felt very lacking in knowledge but I know that is just how things are sometimes.
Any information appreciated - thanks!

The C7800 isn't approved for the increased upload speeds. The only ones from netgear are the Orbi CBR750 and the CM3000 (not released yet). That's so far.

So you won't get the increased speeds with that modem. The tech you talked to wasn't that knowledgeable about it.
Okay! Yea that was part of my initial question to Xfinity as well. Do we know if that list is concrete? I was under the impression that Xfinity was still adding more models (or at least it seemed like it was being populated over time).
I originally had asked the Xfinity person if they knew of a timeline and they simply said yes / that they would try to provision it.Thanks!

that list is getting devices slowly added. I don't forsee the C7800 being added because its built in modem is basically the CM1000. And I don't expect that to get added to xfinity's list. The C7800 and CM1000 are first generation docsis 3.1 devices. Xfinity won't even release if they're working on the CM2000 which is multigig and has the capability
Okay, thank you both!
Yea I was looking at this list as well: https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2023.11.22%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdfBut I do see now that it has essentially three sections:
- Next Gen Speed Tier: I guess this is the stuff that currently supports the upload change?
- Recommended Devices: newer stuff, stuff that might get the speed tier upgrade?
- Compatible Devices: Everything else, sounds like maybe just a general legacy list of devices which includes my C7800.
I guess my only course of action is to just chill and see how it goes but presume that my model is most likely not going to make the cut for this provision update. đ
Thank you again though for helping out!
