Orbi CBR750 connected to AT&T BGW320- Magenta but I can use Wifi for internet
Hey all,
I have tried to figure this out for two days and I am stuck. I have AT&T fiber; I went through setting up the modem and connecting the router with AT&T, and they set the BGW-320-505 modem to use my Orbi CBR750 as a router for Wi-Fi. The BGW320 has Wi-Fi disabled and set to passthrough. I plugged in with ethernet to the #1 ethernet port on the BGW320. I also have two RBS750 satellites attached. I am pulling internet through the Orbi Wifi put on the router page it shows bad connection.
On the Orbi CBR750 (firmware 4.16.14.4) I plugged from the Modem to the far left ethernet port on the CBR750 router. Both satellites are synced and updated with latest firmware V7.2.6.31. They are working without issue. The CBR750 however, still has a magenta light and cable connection shows not connected. If this was the case wouldn't there be no internet through the Wi-Fi?????? I think anytime I try to work on something it is never as easy as it should be, lol.
I can't use the coax for internet because it is fiber. I have tried different ethernet cables that have all worked for me, so I am pretty sure it is not the cable. Is my Orbi going to be magenta forever? I do not like that cartoon Terminator color at night. It's like having a Terminator that little girls gave a makeover. Any help would be appreciated.
You won't see AP mode in the CBR UI.
To configure the CBR for a faux AP mode, you'll need to set a IP address on the CBR from 192.168.1.1 to what the ATT router hands out, for example if the ATT router is a 192.168.0.1 address, then you would set a 192.168.0.75 on the CBR. Then disable the DHCP server on the CBR. Apply the change to the CBR. The IP address you set on the CBR should out side of the host routers default IP address pool. If you can set a smaller pool size, i.e. .100 to .200, then set the IP address on the CBR to something out side of it. Should be good to go. Just know the front LED will be always ON PINK. Put a cover over it or hid it. Like a post it note.

The CBR requires a cable RJ6 coax ISP service to work. Fiber is not supported.
- tomtom27AspirantOh well I wish I would have known that two days ago lol. I appreciate the fast response. I guess I will need to look into a new setup.

Also, there is no other options for me, other than to get a different router setup? I mean if I show no internet then how can I still be pulling internet though the router, or is it just not going to show a cabled connection to the router even though it is working?

Only thing you can do with the CBR is configure it for a faux AP mode and connect it to the ATT router using the LAN port on the back of the CBR. Would work as a wifi AP and if you have a RBS to go with it, would work as a MESH system in AP Mode.
