I just purchased this C3000.N300 cable gateway and am very pleased with it. I had another brand gateway and was getting slower speeds than promised by Comcast when using my computer wirelessly. I contacted Comcast and they advised anything connecting wirelessly would be much slower than connected via eathernet.
I connected my devices that were wireless with a eathernet, that I was able to, and my speed increased. So, as far as my computer, I went to hardwire so I could connect to the internet faster. On the other devices, I can live with a slower connection.
Hope this helps.

Did you try changing Wi-Fi channels? The current channel could be congested by neighboring Wi-Fi networks.
It can be really difficult to get decent speeds at 2.4 GHz. There are often too many Wi-Fi networks nearby. With N300 class Wi-Fi, you should expect to get a total throughput of around 50 Mbps to 70 Mbps. It'll be less if you are sharing the channel with other Wi-Fi networks or if there is interference from non-Wi-Fi sources.
Your best bet is to switch to 5 GHz. Unfortunately, the C3000 only operates at 2.4 GHz. There are 3 options:
- Replace the C3000 with a dual-band router/modem
- Add a dual-band router and put the C3000 into bridge mode
- Add a dual-band Access Point
