WNDR3700 as wireless access point?

Hi, I fear I fall under the label of "Clueless". I need very basic assistance. My wife and I have two computers presently using the WNDR3700 wireless router in our house. It all works wonderfully. It has been years since we created this set-up. We are now replacing the oldest computer with a new computer that has wireless capability. We have NO CLUE how we go about connecting the new computer to the existing WNDR3700. Might one of you be able to explain the steps. Our Sincere Thanks!!! Matt

  • On the new computer, click on the Wi-Fi icon.  A list of Wi-Fi networks should appear.  Click on the name of your network.  You will likely be prompted to enter your Wi-Fi password.  If you don't have a password, you should add one!  If you don't know the password, log into your WNDR3700 and find the password under its wireless settings.  You may also be able to retrieve the Wi-Fi password from one of your other computers.

It's also possible to use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to connect a device to the Wi-Fi network without using a password, but it's insecure so it's not recommended.

You can also Google for basic instructions.  For example Google for connect windows wifi.
