Cannot factory reset Powerline 500 adapter
I got everything to work the first time, but mis-timed the security buttons, so I had to factory reset. I am able to factory reset the Powerline 500 WiFi access point, but not the PowerLine adapter. I held down the factory reset button with my dedicated factory reset paperclip (lol), but none of the lights change on the adapter.
I can definately feel the tactile button press, and held it down for 2 seconds, 3 seconds...etc. Still nothing, the power light remains a solid green, and nothing is being reset.
So now I have an access point which is reset to factory defaults, and the adapter which is not and they are not communicating with each other. Any ideas?

By "PowerLine adapter" I assume that you mean the plug connected to your router, the XAV5221. In reality there is no difference between the "host" plug and a "remote" plug. Some people buy the "wifi-less" bundle which has a pair of identical plugs without the access point feature.
Have you tried setting things up with the Netgear desktop genie as described in the Quick Start guide?

How do you know that the plug has not reset? I see no mention of flashing lights in the Quick Start guide.
Have you tried going through the setup process again?
