Yes. Just follow these instructions:

It sounds like you have two separate Powerline networks, XAV5001 and PL1000.
You really need just one network. With the PL1000 connected to the router, add the other plugs one at a time. You can do this in the same room as the router to make it easier. Then move the new plugs to wherever you want them.
You face one issue with mixing 500 and 1000 plugs, the network will operate at the speed of the slowest plugs, the 500s. That probably doesn't matter for most applications.
The other difference between these two generations is that the 500s do LAN at 100 Mbps while the 1000s work at 1000Mbps. So use the faster plugs for devices with 1000 Mbps Ethernet, probably PCs.
Thanks. I assume that I have to reset the old 500 plug before I can reconfigure it to connect to the PL1000? As I configured the PLW1000 to take over the settings from my Fritzbox, I hope I do not loose any configuration made to my PLW1000 set.
I am wondering about all those different speed standards of the Netgear plugs. In case I would like to replace my old 500 plugs, which can/should I use? I found these, are they recommended: NETGEAR PLP1200-100PES PowerLAN-Adapter (1-Port, 1200Mbps)? E.g.

I assume that this a bundle where I can use both as new clients for my PL1000. What are the limitations for the 1200 plugs when using them at the PL1000?

You may not need to reset the plugs. Just following the instructions I linked to might be enough. I can't see that adding a plug will do anything to the PLW1000's settings. You won't be going anywhere near that plug.

You can add any plugs you like so long as they are AV compliant, which should cover anything sold now.
The 1200 plugs should be just fine. They also have 1000 Mbps Ethernet. The slightly different operating speeds is barely noticeable in comparison with the 500 to 1000 jump.
You don't even have to buy Netgear plugs, but I find it easier to stick to the same brand. Then you can use the same software to set up and control them.

I've a very similar combo. XAV5501 with brand-new PL1000v2 and PLW1000v2
Issue I'm having appears to be an IP conflict with a 4K AppleTV attached to the ATT U-Verse router. It stops streaming connections, showing no Router IP nor DNS IP - both are N/A.
The old AppleTV, different room, ethernet-connected to the PLW1000v2 shows both Router and DNS IPs.CHANGES MADE:
Plugged the AppleTV directly to the router. Plugged the PL1000 to the 8-port Hub.
The XAV5501 that WAS giving Ethernet now has no connection. The WiFi SSID is broadcasting but will not connect. AppleTV 4K is working just fine! U-Verse DVR is OK.
I'm no networking expert, but am reasonably competent to follow instructions, having been around hardware and software for over 40 years.This is beyond me... Does ANYONE have any suggestions, please?
